I am disappointed to see that most in the area seem to be sandwich/sub shop type places or the ever ubiquitous Italian/Greek combo restaurants that seem to do neither that well.

I would love to find a place that embraces authentic Greek dishes and specialties. Especially a place that makes the different types of Greek dips like melitzanosalata, taramosalata and skordalia with fresh hot pita. I guess if we can't find a restaurant we can always make it at home or open our own Greek place.

Where in LA are you from? We moved here from Burbank.

I'd suggest Never on Sunday downtown, or Mythos on Wade Hampton Blvd in Taylors/Greer. I've tried both, and loved both! Agreed about The Olive Tree as well.

Mythos is great, IMO.

Maybe it's what I'm ordering at Mythos, but I've tried it 3 times now and wasn't impressed any of those times, but my friends like it. So far, Yia Yia's has been the best, but then again, I've only gone to those two Greer places.

@Sophiasmommy, West Los Angeles for me and Los Feliz for my husband. When we got married in 2009 we moved to Thousand Oaks. We will miss CA greatly, but we need to relocate to be closer to family. How long have you lived in Greenville? Do you like it there?

It's on Pelham. I tried to see if there was a menu online, but didn't find it quick enough, but found a blog someone wrote about going there with some pictures on it.

Dinner at Yia Yia’s

You can also try Gourmet Pizza on Augusta Road!!
Also, Kozani on Main Street is a local Greek/Italian restaurant. Check for their wine specials.

I'd forgotten about this place! It's the best Greek food hands down...and the hot dog at Corporate Deli is an great lunch. Not the typical American dog...it's really good. Thanks for the reminder!
