Need masonry work
We are looking for a qualified mason to slightly expand and cover our crumbling front porch and steps with flagstone. This is mostly a cosmetic project, as the current porch is structurally sound. Any recommendations? Or masons out there looking for work?

I would HIGHLY recommend Stef and Sons. They did a stone walkway at my house in the spring, and did an awesome job. I got estimates and interviewed probably 4 or 5 companies, and they not only had the best price, but also made me feel the most comfortable about their workmanship. Again, I would highly recommend them.

thanks
Thanks for the recommendation! As an agent, I'm sure you encounter all sorts of companies and workmanship, so your opinion is valued. I'll give them a call. It's a real gamble finding reliable contractors if you don't start with recommendations. Guys will come to look at a project, say they will get back to me with a quote and then vanish. All kinds -- landscapers, painters, general contractors. It's frustrating to hear people complain about the slow economy and then fail to follow up on potential work. And, no, I don't think I'm a particularly scary seeming customer.

I'm a Home improvement contractor and I hear that from a lot of customers. I don't get it they are throwing leads aways.
More than likely a small company that can't take the work.

We found an excellent company -- Premier Wall Systems, Stone and Stucco. They are out of Spartanburg but happy to come to Simpsonville. They had a reasonable price and offered lots of suggestions. They showed up, did what they promised and worked cheerfully all day. We liked them so much we had them build a stone retaining wall/flower bed as well.
