This is my first post on this website but it seems that everyone is very good at answering questions here. The Wife and I visited Greenville this weekend on a trip to check out places to relocate to. It was cold this weekend but I understand there was a cold front. We are currently both teachers in Florida. We are trying to get out of florida because the education system is going down very fast here. Class size is around 30 to 35 now, and we have not had a step raise in 2 years. We would like to live in the downtown area so any help on location would be great. My main question though is how is the economy effecting the education system in greenville? Are class sizes increasing? Are the teachers not getting their normal step raises? I would love to hear from teachers in the area also. I want to know how you feel about the system. We are also planning on having a kid so the education system is very important in that aspect as well. Please tell me the way it is, I do not need a sugar coating if the news is bad. Thank you in advace for all your help.

Default Added note

Also I wanted to check the teaching market in general. Are there a lot of teachers out of work? What is the future of the market in teaching, will there be any jobs?

No sugar coating. South Carolina ranks probably even lower than Florida in education. Education is becoming more important in SC than it has been, but it has a long was to go. As for jobs, I believe that Gville just had a lay off prior to this school year. Not sure how many though. Have you looked at Virginia? For your own future children I mean?? It is one of the top in the nation for education. That and most midwestern states.
