Not sure how many others here use Ashmore Bridge Rd daily like I do, but I've been wondering..... WHY are they just repaving this ribbon of asphalt, when it desparately needs AT LEAST a turn lane its entire length, and ideally 2 more traffic lanes? Why waste the money now, when you could save it and increase its capacity in the near future??? I'm sure they won't spend the kind of $$ to significantly upgrade this increasingly congested road anytime soon, now that money has been wasted simply resurfacing it. I'm completely baffled....

Gotta grab that stimulus money while it's hot. But I don't think the county owns all the required easements for 3 lanes, so they'd need to buy a good chuck of property in addition to the expansion construction costs.

Certainly land acquisition for things like this is a day-to-day sort of thing in growing areas. This is simply a waste of money - throwing it right down the storm sewer. They should wait until they can "kill 2 birds with one stone" and do it properly.
