Perhaps you are thinking about the proposed development at I-85 and Highway 14 in Greer, which is currently on hold. It is supposed to include a Bass Pro Shops and a lot of other retail. There is supposed to be a movie theater there, but it will not be an IMAX because the IMAX will be in Simpsonville off of I-385.

Where have you been Skyliner? It's the proposed development by Collett and Associates. It's on hold until the economy improves.

That's a good area for Bass Pro, though it would have been nicer here. Can't have it all.

It would be hard for anyone/anyplace in the region to match the traffic exposure that a location on I-85 would provide. I know there's already one outside Charlotte, but there's plenty of market here as well. It's just a matter of time.

REI can not hold a candle to BPS. It will probably not even be as good as Academy.

I've been in REI and I've been in BPS. BPS is not my kind of store....it is too focused on hunting, guns and knives.....basic Coleman camping gear. Not my speed at all.
I MUCH prefer the more urban explorer attitude of REI......the clothing brands and better brands of camping / kayaking gear.

The two chains DEFINTELY target two different and distinct demographics, sort of like Wal-Mart and Target. I fall into the REI/Target demographic.
