This is a mixed use project for the intersection of Main Street and McBee Avenue in downtown Greenville. CVS Pharmacy will be the main tenant. Total square footage is 35,000 square feet. Only second floor space (16,000 square feet) remains for lease. First floor is fully leased. KDS Properties is the developer. Slated opening is October 2010. Rendering below:
BTW - forgot to ask: Is this the corner of the block where the Wachovia building is, that's currently a pit behind a wall? If so, I'm glad to see this!
Yes, it's the pit and no it's not the national retailer. The national retailer is currently not located in Greenville according to the Journal. I'm pretty sure we have several CVS Pharmacies already.

It is a bittersweet announcement, since that property is both vacant and prime for something larger. Oh well, I suppose it is best to look at the positive side and be glad something will finally fill the former Kress building site. I am quite disappointed in the lack of sidewalk appeal along the McBee Avenue side though.
Although I agree that the building doesn't look like it will be super attractive, I think in a way, this store is more along the lines of what you would have found traditionally on a Main St. Too many these days have stores that cater primarily to the tourist trade or people looking for 'cute' or 'cool' gifts. Nothing wrong with that to a point, but the addition of a pharmacy to the dt doesn't strike me as so terrible, plus some basic food stuffs and other things, it's sort of a modern general store and might be great for those people who actually live within walking distance.
Very well written, Rapunzll. Let there be no misunderstanding regarding the necessities which this pharmacy/convenience store will undoubtedly fulfill for downtown residents.
