Im on here trying to find out some info about fishing this lake. I am about 10 minutes away and have been out on the lake several times in my boat and it seems like I couldnt catch a cold there its so bad....anyone wanna help or give up some pointers. Crappie, bass or catfish are fine with me. Just wanna take out my pops and catch a few. Tired of the fishing, we are ready for some catching! haha. thanks..Chris

Gurgle.
I paddled Saluda Lake this morning after hearing about it from a buddy. There is a ramp at the end of Motor Boat Road and nice tackle shop there too. I put in around 6AM wanted to do about an hour of exploring. While I saw several signs of wildlife - 2 beavers, some cranes, and two Belted Kingfishers - I was pretty shocked by the poor water quality. Throughout the lake there were bubbles rising to the surface! There is sediment everywhere. There are several spots around the lake that are less than a foot deep and I feared that my boat would bottom out. I probably didn't paddle the entire body of water (got a little bummed by the water quality) but I would guess that about 50% of the lake is filled with older homes and trailers and about 50% is undeveloped forest and swamp. I understand you can head up the Saluda River on the north end but I didn't see it firsthand. While it's certainly a convenient spot for Greenvillians, I probably won't be heading back again.
