Advice Needed For Temporary House Rental In Greenville Are?
Our house should be on the market in the next 30 days. Once it sells I need to get to Greenville and rent a house for us (two adults) and all our stuff while we look for a place to buy up there.
Not sure where yet we're going to buy but we like the NW upstate region of SC and maybe into west Tennesse. We have spent time there.
Greenville seems like a logical place for us to use as our search headquarters. Employment is not an issue, medical field work is available anywhere there are hospitals.
Couple of questions:
How likely is it for us to find a month to month or 6 month rental in the Greenville area in a good area (low crime, nice neighborhood)?
What area of town might be good to look in?
How can we best find rentals (I have a subscription to the local paper Sunday edition on the way) are there other sources?
Lake river/front areas would be a plus, we're considering waterfront and off water places to purchase.
Are there any fatal flaws to our plan?
Could we maybe do things differently for better results?
I realize we could put our stuff in storage here while we look there but I'm not sure I like that idea.
Thanks for any ideas or input.

Hi my family is moving to the Greenville area from Boston in August. We too will be selling our house and awaiting the building of our new house to be completed when we arrive in the area. We have located and will use short-term rental properties on both ends. The key is to search under "temporary housing" and "corporate housing". They tend to be expensive, but are typically fully furnished to cover you while yours is in storage. I am not at home right now, but I can provide you with some contacts laterm, if you'd like.

greenville temporary housing
We too are moving that way. Here is what I have found in my searching. You can view classifieds online. Go to greenvilleonline.com and look at classifieds section, then houses for rent. Also, there are some rental agencies I have found that post houses for rent...........here are their web addresses: Wm. Goldsmith, Inc. - Property Management - Greenville, SC and DynamicPropertiesInc.. There are probably other ones there locally, these are just the ones I found. Other websites to check are rentclicks.com, move.com ........hope that helps. Greenville is nice, I went to college there many years ago. Still have friends in the area. They love it. Close to the mountains, and not too bad a drive to the ocean. Not too long ago I saw an ad for a rental on Saluda Lake. Also Lake Hartwell and Lake Keowee are nearby.........I think they are bigger lakes and have more development/homes on them. The east side of Greenville is from what I hear the place to live.........good schools, safe, low crime, newer homes being built...................places like Greer, Taylors, Simpsonville to name a few. Also, there is a poster named TravelersRest on this forum who posts nice pictures of the area........check out some of his posts on the area......Good Luck !!!!!!!

Thanks for all the great info so far.
Yesterday I received my first Sunday edition of the Greenville News in the mail. It has a very nice real estate classified section section with a lot of good rental listings, looks like rentals are readily available.

I live in G'ville
I am not sure if you guys are buying a home or your future plans (credit wise)? However, PLEASE consider about the rentals with most rental prop companies.... they require a credit check usually Equifax in this area. If you are concered about your credit score or tri-merge score on behalf of a furture home purchase...you might want to consider another option. I would be more than happy to tell you more if this is a concern. Just a FYI...
I am such a credit freak and I know a lot of people have no clue about this in advance. Nor do most of them tell you this when you first call!
Good luck and welcome
