We are looking to relocate to the Greenville area. Everything I have read and all the pictures posted on this site look awesome. I went to college in the early 90's there..........but it looks like a totally different city now from what I can tell.
I did have a question that I have not been able to get accurate info. on. I hear SC has a property tax on vehicles that they assess on the value of the vehicle each year. Can anyone tell me is that a percentage and what percentage they use? We have a 2001 van with about 100,000 miles......would be curious to know approx. what I will have to shell out each year. Thanks for any help or websites you could direct me to........
dobiefamily, I am paying $62.57 this year for a 98 Toyota Corolla. One year ago it was $71.98 for this vehicle. I know someone with a 97 Mercury Van that paid $61.13 this year. Both examples include Mauldin tax which is in addition to County tax.
We have a 2003 Dodge Caravan, and we paid $158 in vehicle taxes last year. You also have to add $15 road maintenance fee and $24 DMV decal fee. Also, you might want to check and see what the high mileage is on a 2001. If it is greater that what the DMV bases their taxes on, they will give you a discount for high mileage. You can call them to find out. Hope this helps.
