It seems there's quite a few hot dog places opening in the area. Am I missing something here? What's the draw?I've been in 1 hot dog joint in the last 40+ years and that was in Hendersonville. I thought it was awful - boiled hot dogs?!? The only way I'll be going in to one of those places is when I hear that one of them is serving Zweigels, and they have to be well grilled!
Funny you mentioned that. There was, for a short time, a hot dog cart in DT Greenville that actually served Zweigels. Loved the White Hot with the jalapeno relish. I have no idea what happened to them but I wish they would open a place or bring the cart back on the street. Beats Nathans any day! I had never heard of them but I remember very well that the guy said it was from a company out of Rochester NY.

Dawg House on Pleasantburg does good.. Grilled dogs, sausage dogs and fresh cut fries.
That's a hard business model to succeed with, tho. Very low margins. I know he does it by being open basically lunch hours (Closes about 5pm) and he's basically the sole employee.
You usually see these places go in and close up in fairly short order. Skins, obviously, has made it work as well.
Farmhouse Tacos to open in the massively renovated former plumbing supply building at 164 S Main in Travelers Rest. There still a good bit of finishing construction work, but much has been completed.
