Default Commute and young hip places to live

Hello,

I will be moving to the area at the end of the summer. First, I am in my late 20s and wanted to know if there are any young, hip, liberal, artsy communities or areas in Greenville. I also like the outdoors so a community with big pet friendly yards would be cool too. (I will be a renter)

I also was wondering if anyone can tell me if the commute from Greenville to Clemson is unreasonable, and if so, there are any other towns near Clemson that may have a young 20 - 30 something crowd? I will be working at Clemson and wanted to try and find somewhere where people closer to my age reside.

Thanks!

I friend of mine has a neighbor who works at Clemson and lives in the N. Main area of Greenville, very close to downtown. I wouldn't consider it unreasonable but I'm not sure what it's like during heavy traffic hours. It's something like a 25-35 minute drive, I believe.

Anyways, I'd say downtown G'ville is somewhat close to what you're looking for, plenty of young people and a few art galleries along with an amazing Falls Park. Cleveland Park, which connects to Falls Park, has some sort of dog area where you can let your dog loose as long as he plays nice with others!

I'd recommend Downtown Greenville as well, if you can find a place to rent. McBee Station is coming along and should have some fairly affordable apartments before long...and it'd be a quick jump up onto Church Street from there (Church becomes Mills, which becomes I-185, which leads to I-85 for a fairly quick commute to Clemson).
