I find the cheerleader comments on this boards hysterical, given that most people who insult the "Greenville cheerleaders" are from other cities. It does make you wonder why they are not promoting their own city?

In addition, any city that is great enough to get people excited and cheerlead for it, must be doing something right. City pride, in this day and age, is a positive quality that is very hard to find.

Sooooo....they are ads. Are they untrue? If they were untrue, wouldn't that be false advertising?

Ad or no ad, they are full of truth.

Outside downtown Greenville is like the rest of the country - some good, some not so good. We enjoy discussing here what makes Greenville a unique and enjoyable place to live. Sue us!

BTW.... Areas in the "real world" outside downtown have much to recommend them also.... There's lots of corporate activity and new companies moving to the area. Many of the companies that are already in this area have consolidated operations from other areas to this region (Fluor, GE, Milliken). CU-ICAR has paid dividends in the form of both manufacturing and corporate-level jobs far beyond what anyone thought it would by this point. So I guess we really are talking about the whole area after all.

People obviously really like Greenville's suburbs as well, since most of the metro area's significant population lives there. As great as our downtown is, there are plenty of local residents who don't frequent downtown. They stay in the suburbs, and love it there. They still feel that their quality of life is high.

I'm not promoting Dallas here or anywhere because this isn't supposed to be a cheerleader competition. When people in the Dallas forum ask if Oak Cliff is a nice place to live, I tell them the truth... it's the ghetto, don't move there!

The question isn't, "why aren't you promoting Dallas (where you now supposedly live) in the Dallas forum?", but rather, "why are you here, doing nothing but carp about and criticize a place that you hate, and no longer supposedly live?". Baffling...
