We would prefer to have at least a 1/2 acre of land (we are living on 1.5 right now and like having some space). I guess a community pool would be nice, a playground and some walking/running trails nearby. Also a neighborhood that is assigned to good schools (mine kids are in elementary).
Those are good things to hear about Easley. I'm planning on visiting the area on our next trip down to Greenville.
My husband's job is located on the south end of Greenville, do you think he would run into much traffic coming from Easley?
I'm really torn about where to settle...I love the downtown of Greenville and love having everything within walking distance. But with 3 small children I'm wondering if somewhere like Easley would be a better fit?
I currently live near downtown Greenville and drive through Easley every day to go to work in Liberty, SC. I can tell you that Easley has a significant strip mall and title lending problem. The busiest, most prominent street in the entire city is just a bunch of run down strip malls. There is one stretch of road that has 17 title lenders within a 2 mile drive (last 2 miles of Easley before you hit 123-S toward Clemson). Greenville is growing, and will continue to grow. Your housing dollar will go a lot farther in Easley, but don't expect much appreciation in your home or much change of scenery in the next 10 years. Greenville will cost you more, but it might just be worth the added expense.... the City of Greenville has a plan and they are executing it very effectively. "G-Vegas" as we call it has a solid shot at landing Google Fiber. Best case scenario Easley gets a Kohl's in the next few years.
I did encounter a horrendous amount of traffic of 123 this weekend. It is hard to get on the highway but I just have to think backroads at times when its the busiest
I think people love Easley because its far removed from the bigger cities. If you want a big box store not found around here , you can drive most places within 10-15 miles .
I do notice alot of payday loan places and a few adult stores but I don't encounter shady shoppers , lol ! I read the crime stats in Easley are 1 % in many areas ..
Try Las Vegas , Their robbery rate is 10,000 per year , rapes 500 + , car theft over 1,000. ( I could go on and on , you can check if you like Glad I no longer live there !

Have you seen the developments they are building in powdersville and easley? I hope they aren't building a new bridge and a huge entrance over the railroad tracks +adding additional lanes on 123 for a walmart and a kohls, that just doesn't make sense to me.
I agree that something should be done about "strip mall shantytown" as I lovingly refer to it, but I think they are working on it, and in 10 years I really do believe it will be very different.
Can't figure out why we can't pass legislation to ban these title lending places?? Who really wants them here?
The intersection of 123 and Prince Perry Rd bridge has been a problem for awhile. I know there have been numerous accidents there, and I believe some fatalities. They are fixing the bridge/road to accommodate the higher volume of traffic they are anticipating from the new shopping center being built, but it needed to be fixed anyway. The amount of traffic on 123 right now is mostly construction delays.
