My husband and I will be moving to Greenville in a few months and will be renting for the first year. I will be working downtown and wanted to find a nice place to rent. Any suggestions?
You may want to check with a property management co, use apartment finder.com or check Craig's list. There are usually some rentals on there. You might find a condo @The lofts@Mills Mill although I'm not sure they are allowed to rent theirs out, The Brio, Riverplace or The Field House. For neighborhoods near downtown try North Main, Augusta Rd., Pettigru or Cleveland Park. If you are looking on realtors websites for areas they are usually under downtown or area 76.
There are others and I am sure someone else will come up with more but this is a start.
As the other half of the OP "Caidensong" I would like to add that our move looks to be progressing even further as we might have a buyer for our KC home! We are very excited to get down south and really appreciate any and all of your advice of this forum.
McBee Station is a new development with about 190 apartments (and a Publix grocery store). However, it's currently 100% occupied and there's a wait list for vacancies. The adjacent Pettigru Historic District has some rentals listed on Craigs List. The Pettigru area is within walking distance to all the restaurants and shopping, and is only a few blocks from McBee Station. That'd be my first recommendation. Secondly, I'd suggest the North Main neighborhood, unless you're looking to be right in the middle of downtown.
You have a better chance of getting struck by lightning or winning the Powerball than finding an affordable apartment downtown sadly. Still can't figure out to this day why developers only build high-end expensive condos downtown. Why not more affordable options like McBee Station?
Actually we are looking to live outside of downtown and most likely in between Downtown and Duncan which is where I plan to be working. Sorry for the confusion.

In between downtown and Duncan pretty much covers half of the entire Greenville Metro Area Thousands of communities, apartment complexes, condos, etc will be found between downtown and Duncan, which is more than halfway to Spartanburg.
We really don't care about being new or not but we want something decent but around 700 to 800 rent on a short term lease. Thanks for all the input, you guys have been very helpful!
