He suffered from COPD & severe emphysema, only 10% lung function. He has struggled with this for the last 6 years. It has been terribly difficult to see him suffer like he has. I am at peace knowing that he is in a better place and free from suffering.

I have anticipated this day for years, but when the time actually came, it came as a shock and I have been feeling all sorts of emotions. I have had non-stop company all day from friends and neighbors, and it has been good for me to be surrounded by supportive people.

I know this may not be appropriate to post his passing, but it reminds me that life is short and you never know what tomorrow brings. If you have a goal, whether in retirement or just life in general, go for it.

If I am not on here for a while, you'll know why. I'll try to get back into the swing of things in a bit.
My heart goes out to you.

I work in a long-term care facility, I get reminders everyday, not to put anything off until tomorrow. So many think long-term equates to elderly, not so! Last week, two, in their 30's, came into the facility!

I'll be 62 next week. I made 12 trips to Central & South America the past 10 years, and I was not going to take the risk of doing that after I retired! Working where I am, spurred me on to do it!

A happier death for me, some day, shall come! No regrets left behind!

Dear NGirl,

My condolences to you and empathy; my dear husband went home to Heaven February 4, 2012.
You are reaching out to those to have similar experiences and especially at this time, we need all
the support we can get.

Prostrate cancer in 2010, esophagus cancer from July, 2011 to February, 2012.

To New England girl too, I am currently attending a Grief and Bereavement Program given by Volunteer Hospice, most helpful.

My prayers to each of you
