Just finished reading this little book, written by a neurosurgeon , Dr. Eben Alexander, MD.
He acquired a deadly strain of E Coli meningitis, went into a coma, his body was shut down, but he survived although he was comatose. He describes his travel into heaven, what he saw, who was there, and how it felt to come back to earth. Very very interesting.

Ms. Badger, the woman whose 3 daughters and parents were burned to death in a house fire last Christmas Eve credits that book with saving her life after she spent time in three different mental institutions.

I'm glad for her. It's still horrible what happened but at least now she has a sense of peace. I want to read that book. I saw the author's interview on Oprah.

The thing is, if you go to Sri Lanka, you can find people who tell stories of being reincarnated. Pure Land Buddhists tell stories of awakening in the pure land. Some Chinese tell stories of being a hungry ghost. Whatever.

I just finished the book as well. Really enjoyed it - very interesting. It was interesting that neuroscience is so aware of consciousness, work with it, near it, everyday, but does not exactly understand 'how' it works (and only 'sees' it from "this side" of things). So interesting that this happened to a neurosurgeon.

Dr Alexander's website - Eternea - the convergence of science and spirituality

It is very comforting to consider. My husband had a NDE as well -- hard not to believe him! It's just very comforting and very interesting.
