I need to figure out where to start with the Medicare/SS. I know that when I applied for my husband's SS survivor benefits, I asked about SSDI, and they told me to go online and from what I read, he'd have to prove a lot to qualify, so I sort of dropped it. Now that I'm going to try to help him become somewhat independent, I need to think about getting him all the aid that I can, but figuring out where to start is daunting.
I talked to him about having his own place, but he was adamant he wasn't ready (scared?) and wanted to think it over. I'm going to aim for July, and hopefully by then, he'll be okay with it.
Marcy, when I applied for SSDI, I just answered the lady's questions, told her the names of my docs and that was all there was to it. SHE contacted and got all the info she needed and 6 weeks later I started getting my money retro from when I applied. Don't be scared. If he gets rejected, there are lawyers who deal with "them" and don't take a penny if they lose the case.
I know at times dealing with the unknown sometimes to be over-whelming but we do these things because they are necessary.
Cheering you on!!!
Hugs,
Smilin
