That was such a lovely thing to say elston!
Happy to hear you had such a great feast and the good rest to follow!
Today is my hard day at work and honestly I don't know how I will pull it off!! My arms are so sore...I took some Motrin so maybe that will help.
Hope everyone has a great day!

Everyday when I say the Lord's Prayer.....different aspects seem to speak to me. "Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" is the line for today and for the past week and who knows how long. I am very aware of food preparation and the blessing of plenty that we enjoy and sometimes take for granted. It really is a special blessing and one that most of the world doesnt share....at least to the degree that we do.

("I am also aware that we do not live by bread alone") But I have been thinking of food. I am the one who shops and plans meals and cooks them in our family......that has taken on a new demension as since Lent I have been trying to eat a vegetarian diet (recently modified for health reasons).....so most evenings I have to plan a meal that can be vegetarian for me and still satisfy my partner......it isnt always easy.

So tonight it will be a Pizza and salad....pepperoni on his half and green peppers on mine.

Cyn, I know that this isnt a foodie thread....but I thought I would mention food every now and then.....hoping to stimulate your interest and appetite.

I haven't been on City Data for a while. I checked out the "Grief and Mourning" group just recently because my sister's husband died while driving a truck on February 15th. They had been married 32 years (no children).
My sister went to a counselor very soon after her husband's death. She said that it helped her immensely in dealing with everything. She has many family members and friends that are also a big help to her.

She has made the decision to sell her house because it is just too much for her to take care of by herself. It went on the market this week. The large backyard was really a struggle for her, especially because she is diabetic and it was such a hot summer this year (in the Kansas City area). She plans on moving to a condo in the Naples, Florida area. This was the plan for her and her husband - once they were ready to retire.

Today, she and a friend are flying from Kansas City to Florida. They are staying in Sanibel. Tomorrow would have been the 33rd anniversary for my sister and brother-in-law. They would have been in Sanibel together. Instead, my sister will spread his ashes in the Gulf, as he wanted.

I haven't read everything in this thread. But, it has been insightful for me. Hopefully, I can learn more here about how to be supportive to my sister. I feel so bad for her. But, I see her moving on with her life and dealing with the new challenges that she has had to face. I have visited her twice since my brother-in-law's death. (I live in Ohio.) We talk by phone often and we text almost every day. I send her a card with a note every week. I think that the shock of his early death has been the most difficult thing to deal with.

Good to see you Lily. Your support will be one of the best ways you can help her. The first year is so difficult but the second year isn't easier--just different. You sister is very lucky to have you and other family members for support. She sounds like she is doing what she needs to do right now. Going to therapy was the best move I made and has probably been the most help. I am so sorry for your sister to be going through this.
