One of our kitties, Halo, went to her new forever home yesterday! It was a happy time to see her go! The lady said they also got a new puppy and since Halo is still a kitten but big enough to hold her own I am sure they will be close buddies. They all seemed very happy!
Rejoicing for Halo. (I am not sure I would dare add a kitten and a puppy at the same time.....but probably if the humans get out of the way....they will work it out.) We always had cats and a dog when I was growing up.
Sometimes that is the best way--at the same time because no one feels that "Alpha". They are both new and as long as they are equally loved it should work out fine---I pray it does!
My girlfriend that we lived with for 3 months called and is stopping by to bring me something. Won't tell me what but knowing her it's most likely a self help of some sort since she is a librarian!
Happy to see you Molly!
Have a nice visit with you friend. When Masa and I combined our households he brought his very alpha Westie with him and I had a very passive lovely setter/spaniel. His little Cricket entered the house and immediately lunged at my Hannah. It looked as if it was not going to work and that would have been the end of our setting up one household. We immediately put Cricket in a kennel that I had and kept them separated for a few days.....then we gradually introduced them to one another with our immediate supervision. They didnt attack.....but it was tense. Finally we decided to let them loose in the house.....no fights but no love lost. Cricket wasn't thrilled to share the house or attention; when they seemed to have developed some tolerance and could be out in the apartment without any fighting we took the leap and both went out and left them home alone. We stayed away for a couple of hours....when we came home they were both asleep....none the worse for wear....They never acted like friends but never fought again. When Hannah passed away a couple of years later....Cricket visibly grieved....and looked for Hannah.....we hadnt planned on getting another dog.....but it became obvious that Cricket wanted a companion. We took her with us when we picked out McKenzie...Cricket looked and smelled her over and decided she "would do"; when we got her home.....Cricket proceeded to ignore her just like she had Hannah....but she seemed to have resolved her grief reaction to Hannah's passing. Dogs are amazing.
Kitty cats, dogs mistly but I love all nature.... One time a birds nest was in our back porch and one day I heard the new birds out there...... She sat on my finger,I was so happy!!
Then she took off into the trees.... Its sad they become scared of us as they get older, when they are little newly born birds they are friendly
