I recently wrote a short response in another thread to a woman who was struggling for meaning after the loss of her husband. My contribution resulted in some favorable feedback that encouraged me to re-post in this Forum as well. Here is what I wrote:
Quote:
My wife of 30 years died in my arms after an extended illness. One night, a few months prior to her passing, sustains me like no other in my grief. We were nestled together in each others' arms in our bed and she said quietly into my chest, "I wish I could curl up inside you forever." And she's done just that. Everywhere I go, everything I do is with her inside me. The awareness of this has filled my life with thoughtfulness about my every intention and action. This thoughtfulness has expanded my heart and my consciousness. I am strangely happy in spite of missing her externally.
It is my hope that you who are struggling to move forward after your own loss can find a spark in this to help light your way. Passing on is transition for both the spirits who leave the form we know in this life - and those of us who remain a while longer. Yet the essences are not destroyed. Each still serve the other, though the former packaging has changed.
AmorphicDN, I read your post in the original thread and must say, this was one of the most simple, heartfelt and wonderful responses I've seen in any forum. I'm so glad you shared this.

I am pleased to have contributed and know it had the intended effect of support. Thanks.

Sometimes a peaceful exit is better than a painful existence. That helped me a lot when my wife of 42 years lost her battle with Scleroderma after 16 years
