I was @ salvation army today and a lady came in and told me and a staff member that she just lost her 16 year old grandaughter today!!!!!!

I guess something happend and her brain swelled up and she was then braindead,etc.......

Oh my.......... My heart went out to her..... I gave her a big hug and kiss and told her I was so sorry... (I hadnt ever seen her before, she must not come to S.A. very often)

When I was about to leave (After I paid for my record) I said goodbye to her and god bless..... I then had tears in my eyes and I cried while walking down the stairs.....

16 years old???????

THATS AWEFUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my heart would have broken too as well . You know there are no words to say or express the sadness of losing a child, grandchild what have you but we as adults should not outlive our kids or grandkids ...

The best way to deal with sudden loss is the knowing the deceased can't suffer anymore. Those who suffer are the living by missing them but its eased by the above by remembering life itself is stressful anyways. There is this kind of blind unawareness and assumption that being here is the best when and were so torn up about it becausevof our grief. But how someone passed as in if it was very violent can haunt loved ones knowing how they suffered. But even with that passing away has to be viewed as release from this uncertain painful existence to final peace or something better in order to have peace with death ourselves. also, everything and everyone dies or comes to an end eventually. Sooner or later is not in our control. This is what I mean by the gleam or spec of comfort that a loved one no longer has to exist in an uncertain and often dangerous world anyway. Also, those who have lost like missing children endure more agony because they dont know if there loved one is alive suffering at the hands of another. We have to remind ourselves its only the living who can experience pain. one will have to go deep to glean comfort from existential truth and to some extent plain old common sense and objectivity plus remembering a person lives on in the heart and mind of others.

I know your heartfelt compassion must have meant a lot to that woman, Dude111. I am glad that she was able to get some well-deserved sympathy from a nice person like you. God bless you for being such a kindhearted and caring person.
