Much more difficult for someone born on February 29th. Impossible for someone born on February 30th.

It really depends on the cause of death. Unlike TV shows or movies, it often takes months or years for a person to succumb to an illness. By the time they are ready to pass, most people aren't even aware of the date. I'm not sick or dying, but sometimes I forget what day of the week it is. Seriously, the people I've known who died spent several days in the hospital, a nursing home or a hospice drugged up or comatose.

True and depressing to think about.

My husband died suddenly and unexpectedly of a massive heart attack on his 60th birthday...and his mother died of a stroke on her 90th birthday.

My mother died on her 82nd birthday in June, 2005, from a lung disease, Pulmonary Fibrosis.

It wasn't discovered until after she had a hip replacement surgery 4 months earlier.

She had the other hip "done" 9 years earlier, and the complication then was low bone density, corrected with a regimen of Fosamax.

I suspect that the Pulmonary Fibrosis was the result of an injury to her lungs in a car accident some years earlier, she suffered some cracked ribs.

My maternal grandfather died on his birthday, August 8th.

A few in-laws have died on MY birthday, making it uncomfortable to celebrate.

My mother died two weeks before her birthday. She never mentioned wanting to live until the next one.

I hated that year. I still don't like it.
