I am a few years younger than he was, but close enough to have lived through the times Ali lived through. I admired him and thought he lived through adversity with grace and humor.

Honestly though, the funeral is really odd assortment of old farts, who can barely find the podium. A bunch of doddering old guys talking about when they protested the war in 'Nam, or when whitey stole America from the Indians, etc...

I guess my point is, if you plan your funeral 30 years before you die, you should maybe make a few revisions every decade, or so.

Smile--agreed! I too was a fan of Ali--he was the best! He was such a performer! I got to shake his hand one time and his hand was as soft as a baby's bottom! I told him I was a big fan and he said "right on mama!" I truly admired the man! I enjoyed that more then any actor I could have shook hands with!

If we forget history, we will be doomed to re-live it.

OMG...it went on FOREVER! He was a great fighter, in the ring...but I'm not sure the funeral was in proportion to his overall contributions to society....he was a draft dodger!

Michael Lerner was shameful, using the occasion to spew his hateful political ranting.
