I posted something similar a while back but could not find it. My mom's 74 year old Sister lives in Florida. Her health has been declining over the last 5-6 years. She falls a lot, uses a walker and can hardly take care of herself. She always been overweight but a few years ago lost a lot very quickly. She has lymphedema in both legs, last time she fell she hurt her neck and had Surgery. She's lucky because my Uncle is retired and does everything for her. Not sure exactly what's going on as we just found out today. My Uncle and cousin did not call anyone but posted on FB please pray for our mom. I just spoke to my mom and I was told she's not doing well. She's my Godmother (my Aunt) Thanks.

Still no news, it's like my mom's family is keeping it a secret.

Some folks are very protective of their privacy when they are seriously ill. Don't take it personal. And prayers for your Aunt.

I found out it was a severe UTI that was untreated for quite sometime and it became septic in her blood. She has had a strong will to live so far but now her family and my Uncle want to put her in a nursing home. My mom is heart broken. My Aunt is 74. I still think there's more going on they aren't telling us. She lives in Florida and we live in NY. Doctor's are saying there is nothing else they can do for her and want her out of the hospital. Her mobility is slim to none. Why can't she just go home and the family hire a nurses aid???

A nursing home does not have to be a life sentence. If she goes to a skilled nursing facility, perhaps she could get some therapy/rehab to enable her to go home. I would encourage an evaluation by a physical therapist to see what her mobility problems are.
