I am so sorry about the passing of your beautiful, precious Simon. They are not only pets. They are our family. I have lost family and I have lost pets, and the hurt and grief are the same. Sending you lots of hugs, my friend.

I believe this with all my heart.

My bedroom door faces the dining room, and the kitchen is attached to that. I was asleep one night and I saw a flash of 3 cats running from the dining room to the kitchen (and past my open bedroom door). One cat doubled back and stood in front of my open door, came into my room and hopped up on my bed. Oh Black Kitty, it was so nice to see you running with friends, and stop in to see me...I will never forget this dream and I was happy all the next day

I've held two of my old and very sick dogs in my arms as they were put to sleep. I'm sure if my mother or father or a child of mine died in my rams I would feel the same way.

I am sad for your loss. I love cats, too. Get another and experience the happiness and the sorrow again. You will grow wiser from it each time about how joy and sorrow are closely intertwined.

It's nice to see that others feel as I do. Our dogs have always been family to us.

When our blue & gold macaw, who had been with us for 35 years, died suddenly, I was in such grief that I called into work that I could not come in. I WAS FIRED THE FOLLOWING DAY.

My sincere condolences for the loss of your cat.

This always breaks my heart, and we, who love our little buddies, know the pain you are feeling right now. I'm a grown man and have sobbed like a baby when I had to make that terrible decision.

Just know that you gave him a wonderful, loving home for all his life, and so many little animals never know that security. Our thoughts are with you.

not exactly as "children"

We don't spay and neuter our kids.
We don't put them to death if they have a terminal illness.

What a pretty cat, and what a peaceful way you gave him to pass away.
