Out of the blue I missed my son & the tears began. He died January 11th & yes, I've gone through a lot of grief but tonight it came out of the blue. No reminder, no overt thoughts, although I do think of him everyday. It's a reminder that feelings of grief can overtake us anytime.

All of a sudden you realize
He's no longer here
All of a sudden come
Cascades of tears
All of a sudden you realize
You're really alone
All of a sudden
You realize he's really
Gone.

Thank you. I expected it to hit at Thanksgiving & Christmas but there was no advance notice tonight.

with a tongue in cheek sense... Grief barges in and rarely cares what time it arrives...rather rude guest in my book! As you are aware... It gives no notice. Your blessing is to go thru it... I promise you ... Each time you do... A new found peace will abide. I fought grief .. And it took much longer...

You are absolutely right; sometimes grief just strikes out of the blue, without having thought anything about it. I don't know why this happens, but I have also experienced this. You just have to ride it out, I guess. Peace be with you.

The same thing happens to me all of the time. One moment I think I'm doing ok then out of nowhere this overwhelming feeling of grief hits me hard. Hugs to you.

I thought I was doing well almost 6 years after my husband died. Then I heard the country song "You Should Have Seen It In Color" by Jamie Johnson and it brought me back to the last time my husband and I were able to dance and it was to that song. I could almost feel his hand on my back and the scent of him. I burst into tears in the car.

Just when you think you're over it...

Peace to you all.

Same thing happened to me last month, I heard a country song, don't know by whom or the name of it but one of the lines was "When they look at me they think of you." People used to want to be THAT couple.

That was my and hubby's life. We were the "king and queen" of our crowd. If we weren't together, we were always asked about the other. Always. The song hit so close to home it startled me into tears and I was driving! Almost 5 years and I still was moved to tears.

Of course I can still be moved to tears over Momma and Dad too and they have been gone 24 and 12 years respectively. It just gets buried down and we learn to cope but it's always there.
