I think that depends entirely on you. There is no real answer, as everyone has different needs. No one can tell you what is necessary for you. It will take time, but you have to figure this out for yourself.

Well, obviously we each have to find what works best for us in life. I pose the question as more of a philosophical, existential inquiry re: the nature of humans in general. But maybe I should've posted it in another category on here, as no one seems to quite get what I'm getting at...

Perhaps the Philosophy or Relationship catagories. This forum is mostly about supporting each other, encouragement and some nuts and bolts about getting through loss. I suppose most people on here are not thinking about the philosophical aspects of love. So yes, you may get more responses on one of those forums. Good Luck.

I have an 81 year old neighbor, who lost two wives to cancer...the ugly, takes a long time to die, kind. He was very lonely, so he went to a bereavement group. He met a cute 60 year old widow whose husband had died from cancer also. They courted for a year and then got married.
He brags about how she doesn't like to go out, but prefers to stay in and cook for hm. He has loosened up the purse strings and is letting her redecorate the house. They are cute working in the yard together.

My point is there is always hope of finding a companion...my neighbor has done it twice.
