I've been writing a lot since my husband died and it's really helped me to process my feelings. Sometimes I write letters to him, sometimes I just ramble on about nothing in notebooks and I've also attempted a little poetry. I posted one the poems that I wrote just a couple of months out on my original thread if anyone remembers that.

Anyway, I don't claim to be a professional writer and I'm actually too embarrassed to show anyone in my real life anything I've written but I feel like I want to share my writings with someone and I figured why not do it as my anonymous internet self so here it goes. I know the punctuation is probably funky and that's something I'm still working on. I wrote this about six months after my husband's death.

Etch, mark, carve, cut.

I think of your hands.
Massive, my hands tiny in yours.
You hold my ring finger, as always.
“Thank you" you say and I know.

Bruised bloody knuckles lifting me up, guiding me.
Hands leading me somewhere.
Through the brambles like a blind girl I follow, as always.
“Trust me" you say and I do.

Cold inhuman, lifeless hands folded politely.
I stare willing you to move.
I hesitate, I'm drawn, captivated, as always.
You say nothing and I know, you're gone.

Etch, mark, carve, cut.
Hands, your hands.
Eternally engraved in my mind.
As always.

Very nice.

If you study the lives of artists and writers, great art and great writing more often than not comes out of great pain.

I like it a lot.

It expresses how I feel about knowing exactly the smallest details of a person. And appreciating the person & the those details.

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone. It feels a little strange to share something I've written but I really wanted to do it. I miss my husband so much and writing about him is one way that I can remember him and express what I'm feeling.
