You can shed tears that she is gone

Or you can smile because she has lived

You can close your eyes and pray that she will come back

Or you can open your eyes and see all that she has left

Your heart can be empty because you can’t see her

Or you can be full of the love that you shared

You can turn your back on tomorrow and live yesterday

Or you can be happy for tomorrow because of yesterday

You can remember her and only that she is gone

Or you can cherish her memory and let it live on

You can cry and close your mind,be empty and turn your back

Or you can do what she would want:

smile, open your eyes, love and go on.

Thank you...my "mommy's" birthday too was couple of days ago. We'll see them again, I believe that.

What a beautiful poem!! Describes the way my mother-in-law would want us to feel to a tee! Her birthday was last week and I know she had the best birthday party ever! Thank you so much, Socal, for sharing this with us.

Excellent! Great post!!!! Great approach, SocalPitgal!

I hope this is read by some of the folks on this forum-- who are taking the grieving process to an unhealthy/ self destructive level!

How sweet, SoCalPitGal! Thanks for the tribute. It reminded me my mama's birthday is next week & she would have been 98! Perhaps us siblings will do something for her 100th! Thanks for the reminder.

Very lovely. Thank you for sharing it!

I hope others will think of me this way when I am gone . . . and remember the worthwhile things I shared rather than dwelling on sadness.

Thought this quote is kind of fitting for the theme of this thread...

Remember Me

Remember me with smiles and laughter
For that's the way I'll remember you all
If you can only remember me with tears
Then don't remember me at all.

That is such a coincidence that you posted that -- today (10/18) was my Mom's birthday also. She would have been 90. She made it to 89.
