My dad died when I was almost 4. I remember the grief my mother carried for him for years afterward, even after she remarried. It was so terribly sad.

Not altogether sure on which relative passed before the other but I do distinctly remember my Dad's Mum passing away, but more so the funeral at the church. Much was in Latin. Didn't know. Think I tugged at my Dad asking what was being said and being shhhus'd. Then the creepy music and some strange smelling smoke coming from these brass-like swinging lamps(?). Seeing my Dad's eyes tearing up. I just wanted to get outta there.

An all around wonderful girl who was in a class below me....she was so awesome and so popular...she was one of those people who was not adored by everyone, but was in every sport that she could be in. Also her mother was just as lovely, she'd pick us all up for practices, and seemed like one of us, there was no generation gap.

After she died, years later, I bumped into her mother, and it was so sad...she had been so stricken with grief, that her whole character had changed....I think it affected her mentally, b/c she didn't remember me, and she used to pick me up all the time for practices.

the entire school was in mourning and my younger sister had a real emotional breakdown over it.

Sad...very sad...
