Sorry for the loss of your Mom. I take Melatonin, 10 mgs. It helps me fall asleep and stay asleep through the night.

Yes, What is up about a homeless shelter?

I'm sorry for your loss, but it's normal to be discombobulated.

I agree, don't bother with sleeping pills. However, you should make some effort to take care of yourself, and not let yourself get too run-down. Stop falling asleep with the TV on, and avoid napping. And stay away from electronics, of course. To help you get to sleep, try the normal non-medical options - hot milk, white noise, etc. You know your mother would want you to take care of your health.

This is so true. Those that have left us certainly would want us to be happy and healthy. Especially our Mothers. Often it is hard to wrap your head around. I know my late hubby tried to get me to rest even when I still had so much left to do. He would just do not worry about it . Sleep is so important. I need to listen to my own words some times too as I have been staying up way to late lately.

tried to sleep. went to bed around 11. kept waking up every 30-40 minutes. left the tv or radio on for the noise. then finally i fell asleep around 9. at 10:30 the smoke alarm started to go off. i left my apartment half asleep 15 minutes later. hope its not a fire. but i really don't care anymore.
multiple people in this building smoke inside their units including jerks who live right next to me.
doesn't help that we also have at least 2 people who can't cook and constantly burn food.
my life is horrible and my ptsd is raging uncontrollably. my mom used to talk me down from spiralling to bad. now i'm on my own.

Yes. It sounds like you need to find a mental health professional who knows how to deal with both PTSD and grief. PTSD CAN be helped. I had it and was able to get past it, with help. It also sounds like you need to find a way to spend some time in a calm, supportive setting, whatever that would mean to you.

And not just sleeping, but eating decently, so as not to get run-down and compromise your immune system.

Okay, but we're not talking about one night with a fire scare. It sounds as if you should have looked around for a counselor long ago. I know that right now you may well be feeling depressed, inert, beset, and all that - but, still, you have to think about yourself, just as your mother would want you to. Start by slowly making a few calls to find a counselor. Maybe start by asking your doctor (or her doctor) for suggestions.

She continually posts and gets the same advice, yet ignores it.
