By Catherine Porter

Good article, if a bit long. The tradition of a type of pschopomp or teacher staying with the body for two or three days is within Buddhist tradition. The purpose is to aid or guide through experiences that the departed is likely to have. The interconnectedness of everyone is a belief/thought that is within a few religions and spiritual paths in some form.
