Hello everyone......I'm new here and would like to introduce myself. I'm from Maryland and love to sit down with a batch of steamed crabs from around the Chesapeake Bay area.

We have one Indian Restaurant here in Bangor, ME that has been here for well over 20 years. Never tried it but may do just that very soon.

2 of our local restaurants closed recently. One may reopen in the spring. Sign of the economy I fear. We are making an effort to patronize the locals as opposed to the chains right now. I have a feeling a few more will be closing in the next few months. Very hard to hold on if you don't have a reasonable profit margin.

Bagels are a hot topic in SA right now....everyone is waiting for Epstein's to open up! As far as Indian food, it's very popular here, too. We have several good places, but I've never made any at home.

I made beef stroganoff-ish last night. LOL I broke my bottle of worchestershire (SP?) in the process, so I had to use dijonaisse--it was delicious! I used very thin sliced sirloin, mushrooms, garlic, and onions, then added fat-free sour cream and the fat-free dijonnaise, let it simmer for a few minutes, and it was done! I served it with mashed potatoes and green beans......should have used egg noodles but I was craving some mashed taters. It was really good, if I do say so myself. And I never knew how fast worcestershire sauce firms up on your kitchen floor!

Supper tonight will be baked haddock. It was only $3.99 a lb. today at the market. Haven't seen it that cheap in months. I have a recipe that calls for spreading some sour cream mixed with parmesan cheese on it before baking.. keeps it nice and moist. It's up to 40 here in mid Maine today and I sure am enjoying it after the totally frigid January and early Feb. we had.
