Hello everyone! I'm from the midwest as well, buildordie. (Thanks for the reminder) I never planned to call myself a birdwatcher, but it seems that everywhere I travel or spend time I look for birds. There's a bike path behind my house with some swamps and ponds along it; lots of different species come through on their way north or south. Some of them I can identify- many I can't. I'll post some pics if I can find them in my computer.
It would be great if this group gets busier...my guy doesn't appreciate my 'bird reports' as some of you might!

I am from the midwest and and enjoy bird watching. Remember if you feed birds in the summer make sure you feed them all winter too when they really need it!.

Hello! I'm in the Dallas area and I love birds. Unfortunately, our new house doesn't afford us the abundance of wild birds that our old one did. I'm going to post a pic I took of a hummingbird last year. I'd love to see more pictures on here!

Well....I thought I was going to post a pic but apparently I can't figure out how??

Just moved to a new location about a year ago. We put up a bluebird house and had two nestings this year. First time we got 3 birds that fledged and 2nd nest was abandoned for some reason. More than likely some pressure from other birds. Learning a lot about the bluebirds. They are quite special

Hi Frustrated...No, no photos of the babies yet...I say yet...because 2 days after my last batch fledged and I had cleaned out the nest box..the little mama started building a nest AGAIN....WAHOOO...3 nests in one season? I think it must be because of the cool temps we have had so far this summer. The birds think its still spring! I still have 2 active wren nests too. I will try to get some photos! The mama should start laying again..maybe tomorrow?

Hello Clifford, M and Amarok. I love my wild birds. I just had a 2nd fledging from 1 of my 3 bluebird houses. I am so excited! The first nest fledged 4 babies who hung around and let their daddy feed them until the new babies hatched, then the daddy started helping out with the new ones. My goal for next season is to see them fledge~
I also have the following in my yard: goldfinches, Baltimore Orioles, Scarlet Tanager, Cardinal, indigo buntings (just flying through), purple and red house finches, bluejays, gray titmice, chickadees, red headed, red bellied, downy woodpeckers and of course house wrens. Had 2 sets of wren babies fledge this year also. Anyway, looking forward to hearing of your experiences as well~!
