"Hard times" come when u least expect it. I have a son-in-law who is very intelligent, but dyslexic. Reading is very difficult for him. He didn't get to graduate high-school because of not being able to read tests-no one tried to help him, apparently, just labelled him & took money into the school system. He has been out of a regular job for about three years now, because of not being able to read or pass GED. If he could take it orally (the way my daddy passed both high school & college because they knew he was smart, just couldn't take tests--he eventually earned a doctorate). WC, my son-in-law, takes every odd job he can find, fishes & hunts (in season) for meat, grows all kinds of good things to eat in odd corners & flower pots, collects scrap & junk & sells it or makes something out of it to sell or use. He can cook on a range or a grill or a little fire. If you show him how to do something, he will improve on it. He takes care of his family & i am proud of him. He can't get a lot of jobs he could do because of lacking a diploma. He is an expert certified pool finisher, he is good at landscaping & related work. He has done construction even though he isn't particularly fond of it. He has never turned down an opportunity for honest work, even traveling with groups to help repair homes in areas affected by the huricanes. My oldest son & WC worked together for awhile when Buck was out of work. They have picked fruit, harvested nuts, all kinds of work, and been happy the whole time that they could find or invent jobs even if they were temporary. WC gets to do things with his sons that most men are too busy to do & only dream of doing, and trains my beloved grand kids to enjoy all kinds of work & play. My grand kids have helped their parents wash clothes in a bathtub when they didn't have a washing machine & didn't live near Mema anymore. Enjoy life to the fullest now, no matter how hard you have to struggle. Don't wait for easy times to enjoy life. In fact, the harder you have to work for something, the more satisfaction it brings. When they lost homes twice in different tornadoes, they lived in campers in our back yard & helped us out when we've had hard times. They are now in Florida, and WC does odd jobs for his landlord to help out with the rent, in addition to everything else he can find. I believe that one day they will own their own home again & be able to afford horses again. I believe it because i see how hard they work & how they help out everyone they can, because they know how difficult things can be, & because they never give up hope or the joy of the moment.
