.45ACP, of course. 9mm feels too lethargic for my tastes, and a lot of pistols chambered in 9mm have composite frames- they kick up more than my shorty .45. To be specific, I like .45ACP+P, 180gr JHP. I keep 230gr ball around as well.
If I was gonna use an automatic with a bullet that size, I'd use a Glock chambered in .357 SIG with a comp barrel.
I also rather like .40SW, and I'd like to try 10mm but ammo availability and the lack of new firearms chambered in the cartridge (as far as I know) kind of keep me from doing it.

Lets have it here,.....tell me what and why you think you caliber is better....
I have pointed out one occasion that a 9mm has better ballistics all around than the .45.............
You can bring up you custom loads if you would like but please explain that first....
Lets keep it civil and no bashing because you don't like what someone else says....
I like the 9mm, nothing wrong with it...can be reloaded for better performance, not a lot of kick....

Depending on what I'm doing I vary my "favorite" pistol cartridge. If you want my overal favorite I reckon I would go with the. 45 Colt. She is a dandy. A, 38 9mm or even a 357 is to light for bowling pins but the old Colt has no problems there. The, 45ACP comes inclose second. I use my 357 SW 66 for revolver steel and have an affinity for the 38/357 for a light kicker that still has punch for defensive use. My 1911 or the aforementioned 66 are my primary carry guns...the Colt is just to big to try and hide. I have had several 9s and just couldn't get a taste for the round. Its Ok ....I would use a 9 before a 38 Super for carry and I am not impressed with the 40 over the 9 either. Gimme my 45. I figger if 8 230 gr XTPs don't do the job my number must be up.
Sure ...you can drive a 9 faster than a 45ACP, but I like the big bullet. The Colt will kick a 300 gr XTP out at over 1200-1300 gps with #9 or H110 and 19.5 gr of 296 spits it out around there to. Turns a coyote inside out at 100 yards. She also stops large feral hogs butt cold.
A 9 is fine for two legged stuff......but when the critters tip out at 400 plus #s I needed the better weight and ballistic performance of the. 45. Ain't no replacement for displacement.

The whole carbine is much like a AR platform. Change the barrel and bolt and you are set to go.
I was prepared to have the barrel drilled to accept .357 SIG. Not much of a stretch. 40. bolt face ready, the .38 barrel common.
My PC9 has less than 50 rounds thru her. Available.

I like the .45 ACP because the snake load has a lot of shot. I carry a Bersa ultra compact .45 with the first round a snake load. The rest are Speer Gold Dot Short Barrel rounds.

Snakeshot in an auto? How's that working out? I never tried to light off a shot round in an auto. Didn't figger it would have enough back pressure to run the slide.

Confidence projected makes bad guys stop without your having to shoot them. If you are confident in your .25, tho, you are a fool. One of the most famous Hells Angels told me that he once bent a man backwards over a pool table and shot him dead in the face with a .25, and the man later testified against him in court. :-) Actually, if you rechamber a fully supported .45 ACP barrel to the slightly longer case of the .460 Rowland, you can get higher velocity than you can with a 9mm. I am talking about 60 grs at 2400 fps.

I am a fan of wheel guns, my favorite is a Ruger New Model Blackhawk chambered .41 Mag. I have fine tuned my reloads to be dead on at 30 yds. that would be a 250 gr semi jacketed soft point or hollow point, I step them down a wee bit for the hollow point.
