Hmmmm. Hi-Point...... Do I own one? No. Would I own one? Sure.... It just doesn't have the same cool factor my P-220 does....
Kind of like the old analogy about fat girls and mopeds. Both are fun to ride until your buddy sees you.......
My opinion about them is this: A $140 Hi-Point a guy can buy RIGHT NOW, TODAY has a lot more value as a defensive weapon TONIGHT than the Sig, HK, or Walther P99 he is saving up to buy in the future......
The thing about pistols is that they are like Lays potato chips. You can't stop at just one. You WILL want another. And another, and another after that. Nothing wrong with starting at the bottom and working your way up......
You do know why the SEALs lost their Berettas and went with the SIG P-226, right? Those damn slides kept cracking in the early days! Cheaper replacement parts. That's the only official reason. Both passed and were the ONLY two to pass XM9.
Ahhhh, so they started WITH the M9....that's pretty amazing....
The reason the Army went with the M9 is because the other 2 guns did not make it as far in the "how many rounds can be fired before a jam occurs"...
That is what I was waiting for. You KNOW BETTER than that!
But are YOU willing to own a Hi-Point? That is the question....are you even willing to try one...I have, I have also shot some VERY expensive 1911's...
But, it's VERY obvious, you go by price and not actual performance....
Just like you won't answer the question about the "pummeling" in that video you posted....that Pummeling WAS fake, and you don't want to admit it....
Well, I usually don't go <<<<<<backwards in my stuff. Like I said, I shoot a minimum of 200 rounds a week. That's 1,000 a month minimum. I know what the SIGs, GLOCKS, Berettas and EVERYTHING else has done and is DOING for me. I don't see any of that from Hi-Point except (1) thread on the subject.
Got ya....it must be expensive for you to own it....and don't say "well $450 is not expensive to me" argument..expensive is up to the person...
I agree with you 100%, but it's people exactly like you that look at the price and say...oh hell...look at that price....you can buy 4 of those or 1 glock...so the glock MUST be better....
Sorry, but your argument, in this case, is not correct....
Not to mention it is ONE of the MOST ACCURATE .45 ACPs RIGHT OUT OF THE BOX! That's very-very-very well documented. You can look that up too!
Yes sir, you are correct. I'm a gunsmith's son. When I asked my pops which of the myriad .45 autos I should buy, his first choice was, of course, some variation of a 1911. Since I had to have double action capability, (because it's cool), he recommended a P-220.
Mine dates to the early 1980's. Having been made in West Germany and lacking the sight mounting rail found on later models, it's an oldie but goodie.....
Conservatively, I have 10,000 rounds+ through it since I bought it (used) in 1992...... I can stitch with it.......
Read all about it. The early days. All is well and everything worked out ok in the years to follow. BOTH are two of my favorite handguns to date. I love both of them. http://coolgunsite.com/comm_pistols/beretta92.htm
Good for you, you have been shooting since at least 1990...and yes, I know it is a Beretta 92....but as you called it before the M9....
