Default For Women Who Love Guns

On Today.com.........new book about women who love guns! Very interesting article, including some of the photos from the book showing ladies displaying what they shoot.
More and more women are buying and shooting these days!
As my wife, who is in her mid 60's, and has her own beginner handgun (Sig Sauer.22) and Ruger 10/22 w/scope. When we go to the Range, most of the time she is the only lady there!
I was estatic when I found out that she was really interested in firearms and target shooting. I had "small arms" training while in the Navy during Nam and part of that "small arms" training was firing a "deck-mounted" 50 calibur machine gun......."small arms?", I thought afterwards.
Just like some men think being watchin/being around a gal that is smoking a cigar is totally sexy, I think it's TOTALLY sexy seeing my wife shoot! By the way, one of my neighbors was smoking a cigar last night on his patio and he told me "I love a gal that smokes a cigar.....it's so darn sexy". Well, I thought "I love a gal (my wife of course) who can shoot a handgun or rifle with great accuracy........and she can! Actually, kiddingly, I call my wife "Annie Oakley II"!
I see very little-to-no threads in this forum about women and guns.......come on ladies, don't let the men completely have this forum!

‘Chicks with Guns’: 15 million US women pack heat - TODAY People - TODAY.com

New Zealand doesn't allow handguns so when I came to the US I was so excited to get my first gun, a Smith and Wesson 40cal. I practiced with that gun all summer. My next one will be a 9mm just because it's lighter.

I am in my 50s and am thinking about getting my first gun. I see it as the best means of protection.

Yea, our (since I shoot it as well) next handgun will be a 9mm also. Wanted to start her out on something small and the Sig Sauer is perfect for her. She's getting awefully good with "plinking".
Even though it's just her and I living here, our firearms have trigger locks and stored in a locked gun case. Two things we really like to do.......take our 20' Cuddy Cabin boat out on the water and go to the Range! Next week we will be on vacation and able to do both.

This video should help show some of the ladies reading this thread that it is possible to carry concealed while still remaining fashionable. I wouldn't necessarily recommend each holster she's demonstrating but it does give you a good idea of what's possible.

Back in the early 1960’s I shot on our HS rifle team. Our team was good; we took the districts for all four years that I shot on the team. Our team was also all male.

Two, of the four years, we competed for state championship. The first year, at the competition, we had two all female teams that we were going to shoot against. With our macho attitudes we thought that it would be a cake walk.

One cute young shooter was going up to the firing line when I noticed her rear sight was loose - it was just about to fall off. I did not want to take advantage of the weaker sex and volunteered to tighten her sight - just being a good sportsman. She went up to the line and shot a perfect 10 X target against our team. Their team blew us out of the water. My teammates never left me live that down - aiding and abetting the enemy! It was not too long afterwards that my team inducted female shooters.

The point of the story is that I respect female shooters. Perhaps they have not taken their place in the finals of Top Shot - but don’t underestimate them!

I really don't know when my wife started her interest in firearms. I remember her telling me that her mom use to go deer hunting in Mich, when she (wife) was pretty young, and brought down a nice Buck with a full rack. She didn't "shy away" at all when we talked about getting our first rifle back in 2002. And, like I said before, she loves going to the Range and shooting. I've been told by some men "you're a lucky dude........your wife likes NFL, fishing and shooting!"
