confused on buying a bow for hunting (buy)

been to a couple of archery stores..god they got me more confused than before i went in..I want to buy a bow for dh for hunting season..this will be his first time hunting with a bow............i have been looking at used bows in the paper..how do i begin to get him started...............bow season is just around the corner.............Thanks ahead................
