My favorite .22 handgun (of those that I own) is the Beretta U22 Neos. It eats whatever I feed it and it's a tack driver.
I also have a Walther P22 (WAY too finicky about ammo - haven't found one that reliably cycles yet) and a NAA mini revolver. I haven't fired my NAA (it's a "collectors edition" that I don't want to fire), but I've fired one just like it. Not fun. It's single action, so it's truly only for serious "last resort" situations or for the novelty of having such a tiny gun.
Walther P22. One of the most reliable pistols I've had. I shoot 60 grain Aguila SSS Sniper Subsonic Ammunition and have yet to have a failure to feed or fire. I've run 500 rounds through it before a cleaning, it was gritty but still never failed to cycle.
The 60 grainers are a pleasure to shoot and the recoil is more of a serious push than a slap. Accurate too. I like it for the triple taps because it is very controllable.
If you shoot autoloaders, find what works and shoot that.
If you want an antique that looks unique look on gunbroker for one of these to send to your local gun shop that can do such transactions for pickup. They come up on occasion like once a month. Usually they cost 750 bucks.
Stainless steel is usually what they come in or gun metal. Has certain features that can make you be able to carry it safely in your pocket for defense and is considered incredibly accurate for target shooting.
The modern Olympic Arms version doesn't look as good.
