Yep. I began looking for places to re-locate about 3 years ago. In-depth research revealed that hunting land was being restricted, anti-2A legislation was rampant, and the cost of desireable land was skyrocketing.

What happened? All the jackassery from CA re-located there.

So, I ended up buying land in NW AR.

Why? I can have the cultural diversity and open-minded attitude that California has going for it due to the money and jobs brought in by WalMart, Tyson, and lesser, JB Hunt, while the "voting weight" of the rest of the state keeps things politically conservative. The physical beauty of that area isn't quite CO, but it's not shabby AT ALL, either, in my opinion, and land/housing is dirt cheap while the quality of life is very high, compared to what you pay (good schools, great roads, low crime, low unemployment, etc.)

Not to mention it's illegal in Texas.

No, really it had nothing to do with gun control. It's a left-over from Jim Crow laws to keep newly freed black men from carrying a gun. It's just never been changed since.

I recently moved to CA, I brought one handgun with me that has not been registered yet coming from out of state.

1. Has anyone filled out the paperwork for this ? I read only handguns need to be registered, not rifles.

2. I had a CCW at my prior state and live in OC. How hard is it to get one here ?

Thanks.

Calgunsdotnet is really where anyone that wants to learn Kalifornia's guns laws goes.

Not going to link but you can find it easily enough.

Where are you planning on locating to OP? That also makes a difference county/city etc....

We were sold out by many so called "conservatives" in the 1990's with regards to gun legislation in this state all in the name of the children.

Its a battle every legislative year in this state.

On the bright side Kalifornia has some of the most organized pro gun groups in the nation.

That's right.

And our coyote-killin' governor wouldn't push OC in the special session after it died in the regular session of the lege.

Even though I wouldn't OC myself, I am in favor of the law-abiding citizen having that right to choose.

Next to impossible. I've heard some say it literally takes an act of congress to get a carry permit in Cali.

On the other hand, I've heard sheriffs are more permissive in more rural areas, so who knows. But, I don't think Orange County is a rural area is it?

I can't even imagine how stressful that must be.

They'd have to be, wouldn't they.
