From Florida, ha. No way Jose'. Remember, when I posted that there was no reports of eye socket damage and even now its being called BS.

My research shows it's almost 1%, or..about 5 times the rate of Nashville PD. But you can keep on saying there is no problem with MPD.

This thread needs to get back on Topic. The topic if NOT about corrupt cops or cops shooting somebody in Missouri. Get back on topic.

This,

I'm not sure about our current location but our Sherif's deputies back home used to keep ARs in the trunk of their squad cars...a few even carried M16s. So just because you don't see an AR, it doesn't mean they don't have one.

It is the same here. Officer carries a handguns, shotgun attached to the dash, and an AR style in the trunk.

Pretty much. Every unit has its SOP as to how to secure long arms, but I have yet to encounter a PD that doesn't have officers carrying M4's/M16 type weapons except motorcycle cops.

It seems like some criminals (school shooters especially) try to "one up" the others before them by doing more and more damage. At a minimum, the police need whatever firepower citizens have. Look at the Hollywood bank robbery shootout years ago on YouTube where the criminals had armor and rifles... Law enforcement was unprepared for that event. Law enforcement has had to adapt and change with the times, and law-abiding citizens should be happy and support them when they do.

You don't need to get into an arms race with non-law enforcement. A Remington 7615 (or better yet, the .308 version), Ruger Mini-14, or any 30-30 lever action and a man with the ability to use it well would have sufficed in the North Hollywood shootout or for just about any scenario an LEO is likely to encounter and would be less likely to create the perception that police view themselves as a military rather than a civilian organization.

With all respects, they would have had their asses handed to them with any of those weapons. In North Hollywood, they had FULL AUTO AKs........

Whiskey River Bob and his Winchester 30-30 won't stand a chance......

OTOH......a Remington M40A5, Savage 10 BA, FN SPR A3G, CZ-750 S1M1 wouldn't have that problem "in the right hands".

You also would be so far out of a 7.62x39mm AKs effective range.....it wouldn't matter anymore.

You can't miss fast enough to win a gunfight. Either you hit or you don't.

I would much rather get in a shoot-out with someone who is using a .30-30 lever gun than someone using an M4, given an opponent with equal proficiency with either.
