Order it and have it shipped to your home. I've shot a bunch of this stuff and it shoots great.

No one, their all loading up on standard ball ammo like Monarch/Wolf, XM 193, M855, SS109 etc.
I've bought plenty of self-defense ammo, MK318, SOCOM Browntip, 64gr Speer Gold Dot, etc. in 5.56. Why WOULDN'T you?

However, I only shoot a few hundred rounds of it per year, compared to several thousand rounds of M193 per year.

I thought they was talking about 00. Anyhow, I've seen #2 & #3 in 20ga but never in 12g a.

Here is some 12ga #4 buckshot.

Anyhow, I'm suggesting pistol ammo is any better. The fact of the matter is, any round or shot shell effective enough to stop an intruder will penetrate your standard interior wall. Just be real sure of your shots and try not to squeeze 20-30rds trying to hit the intruder.
I was just mentioning they were different because they respond to hard barriers differently. the 7.62 penetrates more basically, .223 is better for home defense. Both won't stop in interior walls, but the .223 will break apart faster and shed its energy, making it less lethal sooner.

I mean it depends on the situation, but hopefully you wouldn't need 20-30 rounds. Only time I could see that happening is if you were trying to get the intruders through a wall they took cover behind. I certainly don't agree with the proposition of limiting mag size for lawful gun owners because "why do you need 30 rounds, 5 is plenty". That kind of talk scares me.

You are right. There is no 12-gage #2 lead birdshot. There is 12-gage #4, and a 12-gage Magnum with #2 steel shot. Remington makes a home-defense .410 with #2, I believe.

Yes. 00-buckshot would go through walls just the same. I would use birdshot.

Lets keep in mind that using rifles to defend the homeland is not the same as home defense, or the self defense. Different animals.

This is a pretty good video about 12-gage bird shot:

Bird shot is not a good tool for this job.

Yeah please don't use birdshot. Anything designed to take down birds is not sufficient for taking down hostile 200 pound mammals.
