I'm sure the rain/hail we got last week has got the little buggers heading south to Mexico! It also makes it tough to get around in 4wd around the stink hole known as the Salton Sea.

Good hunting Angry,

JR

Went out to the field yesterday and put up a couple of pop-up blinds. It was an all-around bad evening. For starters, I drove into the woods on the land I was allowed to hunt on. In so doing, I got to close to the river on the other side...and got stuck in 2 foot of loose sand. Had to call the landowner's son-in-law to come pull me out. Good thing he's a really nice guy. As we're hooking up the tow strap he informs me that I'm not on his mother-in-law's land...but instead on the neighbor's. Good thing for him...I might have gotten chewed out for trespassing.

I put up my blind....and proceeded to drive out of the field. I didn't notice that there was a really wet spot of the field....and now I'm stuck in a foot of ugly, black mud. Ugh....I get the phone out and call Junior AGAIN!. Like the really nice guy that he is..."no problem! be right there!", he says.

That just makes for a really bad night. I can only hope the hunting goes much smoother.

Went hunting spruce grouse today. Took the GSP, a pocket full of shells, some water and a few treats. Went up to an old mine and started working uphill. Went about 6 miles, maybe 750-800 ft elevation gain.

All I saw was the extra weight from summer BBQ's dripping from my body in the form of sweat, lol.

Good news and bad. I have a friend. that is a contract lion hunter. He also helps guide and outfit. I got together with him today and he gave me two names, but no phone numbers. Brian Bircher or Ross Abbey. Both are excellent guide/outfitters and both work the Bighorn mountains.. Pack animals, etc...

I will keep researching and see if I can come up with phone numbers.
