I have a couple of Sako's. You can't go wrong with them. But, my best rifle, off the shelf, is a Savage with an accu trigger. Long range, 1000, 1250, and 1500. I'll take my Garand..

If you want to keep costs down, you could always look at used rifles at gun shows, at pawn shops, and at gun shops.

I bought a used .22 rifle the other day. Upon getting home and inspecting it more, I saw that the barrel about 3" from the muzzle was bulged. I will only buy used from someone with an established reputation, at this point.

I used to do, but now I'm quite "old" (52 yo, and I want just relax and enjoy.
I'm looking at the CZ 527, with the 21.9" barrel; seems really nice, with the walnut stock
But the trigger ? Is there the possibility to change the trigger, with something more "smooth", easy, around 1.5-2 pounds ?
Assuming the CZ you purchase comes with the new "Single Set Trigger" system, you probably won't have to swap it out: CZ-USA The CZ Single Set Trigger System -- CZ-USA

Well, I do check for this sort of thing particularly at a gun show, or any other used gun purchase. Particularly with a bolt action this is easy to check for, take the bolt out, point up at a light fixture, any bore defects will stand out clearly.

That said you might as well see how well (or not) this rifle shoots before you decide it's no good.

If this is a .22 rim-fire, if it shoots poorly, you could have a gunsmith cut the barrel back to get rid of the bulge, or reline the barrel.
