Look to the military and police units for an idea of what works well.

I tried the Taurus Judge today at the firing range and it went quite well. The kick wasn't too much and I did well in regard to accuracy. I used a single round of bird shot at a time to get used to shooting and then tried some other ammunition. My first try with the other ammo, I was within the chest/bullseye and was able to improve and hit the center of the target. The only thing I didn't like was the noise. The ear plugs I had were insufficient, so I'm going to buy something much better. Otherwise, it was actually kind of fun. That's not to say that I wasn't paying very careful attention to every bit of safety information. I was extremely careful in that regard. My plan is to spend a lot of time at the firing range to come up to speed. As a woman, and one with small hands, I didn't have any trouble with this gun. I liked the weight of it for stability and didn't have any trouble with the kick. It was easy to load and unload. So far, so good.

I owned a Taurus Judge once, it shot well, best it was suited for was the 410 buckshot. at 7 yards it put all 4 shots in about the size of 2" or less, which is a good group. In the Taurus Judge or the Smith & Wesson Governor, you get the best of both worlds, the maneuverability of a pistol and the impact of a shotgun.
