Out of my carbine, this load has, decicively, dropped hogs before. It will lose about 150 or so fps coming out of my Hawks 7.5" tube as opposed to my Marlins 18", but still will carry plenty of slap.

With my boy on this run, and being his first hunt, I do believe I will pack the Marlin and hogleg, and back him up till he drops his pig. Then he can do the same for me. No sense taking chances. He will gain experience, in all possible safety.
Smart! Specially with piglets in the equation.

LMAO...I do have a memory of being stuck up a tree, for a few hours, due to a hunting partners carelessness, or shall we say, youthful exuberance., try Bing to catch a piglet. At the very wallow we will be at on this trip. That was in 82. I was younger than my son is now. Ohhhhhh, did I cuss that guy! He was the son of the ranch owner and my good friend, but I called him everything but human for that stunt. Its a , kinda, good memory now though. Lmao. Lessons learned.

He's still working the ranch, so my son can listen to a few stories from us , now, old guys , about being young and stupid. And lucky . Hopefully over a couple racks of fresh baby backs, some beans and cornbread and a cold beer.
