As I was browsing some old threads here in the G&H forum, I was shocked and saddened to see that ElkHunter's username had been blackened and given "eternal member" status..... For those who don't know, that means he has passed away....

If you've frequented this forum often, chances are you were given some kind of advice by Elk or interacted with him at one point or another. Not only was he a great moderator, but he was also a wealth of knowledge and information. He was very set in his views and he wasn't ashamed or embarrassed to tell you what he thought. I thought he should be given a memorial thread on the forum he spent so much time participating in. He will be missed....

His obituary:

I'm sorry to hear that. I believe I interacted with him a time or two on here. Does anyone know what happened?

According to fellow mod elnina:

Awe damnit, damnit, damnit. I thought something was up as I haven't seen him post in awhile.

RIP buddy wish I had the chance to meet you in person. Thanks for all the great online and PM interaction.

ol' Jim led a busy and fruitful life. Didn't know much about his personal life other than His Miltary Service and outdoors/gun activites.

Harvest a Monarch or two in the great Wapiti hunting ground in the beyond.

Damn.

I don't participate much in this forum but I've been following for a few years and always appreciated ElkHunter's knowledge and style. I think his ratio of rep points to posts pretty much speaks for itself. He will be missed.

It was announced in the "In the News" sticky thread back when it happened, but a memorial thread is a better idea.

Thanks for the link to the obit... Surprisingly, he looked quite a bit how I pictured him. Except my mental picture had a shorter beard.
