Best pocket gun, what would you recommend? (barrel, ballistics, automatic)

True, but for pocket carry, the tiny bit of extra width in the cylinder is negligible. It'd be more of a factor if you're going to carry inside the waistband.
Exactly right. That's my issue with it. I love a little hammerless snub, but I really have learned to appreciate these new slim designs. That LCP basically disappears.
I bought a pocket carry years ago. Ruger SP101 .357 5 shot revolver. I keep mine loaded with hydrashok. I added a pachmyr grip so I can get more of my hand on it. Factory grip is fine if you have small hands. Zero fun at the range. Easy to carry. Fits in the back pocket of levis no major bulging.

I'd like to see a 26 ounce (unloaded) 7.2" length SP101 with pach. grips fit in the back pocket of standard Levis with no major bulging - never mind sitting down on it.
I have read of a few folks saying they pocket carry SP101s on the many gun boards, but they are a rarity. Mine - with the standard grips - will barely fit in my cargo shorts, and is not really conducive for comfortable pocket carry because of its bulk & weight. But then again, I'm not you.

Let me clarify. Levis 501 jeans are pretty baggy in the butt unless you just have a lot more butt than me. be hard pressed to tell if I have my pistol or anything else back there. Granted back pocket isn't exactly prime carry real estate. Just a point of reference.

Kudos to you able to back-pocket carry a SP101 all day. I've carried a 16 oz S&W 638 IWB without a good belt & holster and I find myself constantly adjusting my belt and lifting that little revolver up. I solved the problem by getting a good gun belt and an Alien Gear holster that distribute weight more evenly. It's hard to imagine the whole 24 oz SP101 + ammo weight concentrated in the back pocket.
Smith shield in 9mm, Kahr CW9 or Ruger LC9 if one of those will not work you too fussy.
Don't know about the other two but I have a Shield. It can not be considered as "pocket gun" unless you're talking baggy cargo pants.
