I've heard this same ban and folks worried for nothing for the past 20 or so years. If you want one get one. They will never come to your house to confiscate it. That wont happen. Its something they could never enforce. The gov. is broke. There is no one to come looking!

Here is the skinny, no one knows if any guns will get banned and if they do to what extent. The 94 crime bill or as it is better known the Clinton 94 gun ban was not retroactive, and had a sun down of 10 years thank god. It did not actually get rid of any guns it made manufactures change the way they were made taking some things off I.E bayonet lug and putting some things on I.E thumbhole stock. So the guns were still made. I have an AR15 made in 96 during the so called ban that is no different than ones made before or after the ban except it has not bayonet lug. Whoop de dooo. That said if we get a ban that actually bans ownership of semi auto firearms and over 10 round mags like California has done. Mom and Pop turn them in, then no you would be in trouble taking your gun to the range. That said I am sure there are many people here and around the country that will have just sold that AR a few days before the dead line and there will be a lot of holes dug around the house burying black guns for another day. The ammo would be hard to ban. 223 is used in a lot of bolt actions and single shots for dispatch of small game and varmints.

This is not to say that the gov will not try to get rid of the surplus military ammo under some BS of its armor piercing. I would worry less about the ammo and more about the gun for an outright ban. That said runs on ammo can be as or more effective of a ban then a ban. After Sandy Hook 223 7.62 and still to this day 22lr were hard to find. 22lr has become easier to get but its still not go down to wally world and pick up a brick. You may find it and you may not. More likely not. As far as what AR. What ever you like and can comfortably afford. Personally I like to build my own and by build we don't actually make our own. We buy parts and put it together much like a snap together model. I love the PSA lower and uppers, Stag and even Anderson are fine lowers. I would stay away from the poly lowers. The aluminum forged are just too cheap to mess with a poly lower. They may say lifetime on them but whos lifetime and what if there is a ban? As for sights I like Magpul rear military spec front and cowitness with a Bushnell TRS 25. Ya you get the people who say Eotech ro Aimpoint but that is a lot of hype and its mostly wasted money and IMO is for the people who are over weight and think the Navy seals are going to call them into action when SHTF. The TRS25 for about 70 bucks with a medium riser is a sold red dot that is a lot of bang for the buck.

How easy is it for a citizen of LA to get a concealed carry permit?

The AR-15 uses a Remington .223 which is a common cartridge used for hunting varmints like coyotes. I would worry about not being to obtain ammo if they choose to ban this specific model of firearm. Besides, if they do ban the AR-15, the Ruger Mini-14 will be the most likely replacement for survival enthusiasts. It also utilizes a semi-automatic action and feeds Remington .223 cartridges. The only real difference is the Mini-14 looks like something carried by a hunter and not something carried by a soldier.

Any one who says that there will never be a ban that the gov will never say turn them in, that they will not take them is playing the fools game. We may not see it but I would bet in the next 50 years this will come to pass.
